Poetry Night

First I heard the unusual “Honk-Honk”
My eyes turned this way and that way,
to see backs of tall buildings shining lanterns
from window to window; and the Fall chill,
crisp on my cheeks

Darkness was with me as I gazed up
Black shadows in formation of the
22nd letter of the English alphabet
were flying across an indigo sky,

but that moment of lapse,
turned from fatigue to energy
when the sight of nature,
gave me lines of poetry,
as I walked home, through
the lonesome city streets.
