Wish Child
When I was a child
living out my fantasies
I made wishes;
blowing on dandelions
Pushing out the winds,
inside me, cheeks tucked; hollow
I wished so hard;
the dandelion fields,
shook off their furs
I pulled apart, daisy petals
One hand held the wild flower
while the other magic fingers,
hoped for the love,
of a young boy
Running after whirly seeds
I’d reached up; to catch a propeller
swaying in the wind
Closing the shades,
of my eyes imagination
entering a world of wishing
counting to three
and making a wish
I believed on
Chasing rainbows,
as a child,
was fun and games
The bright colors
were not a favorite
but they worked fine
for a child like me
I wasn’t distracted,
by the meaning,
So I can say,
that what I ran after,
when a child,
was perceived,
in the eyes,
of a child’s innocence.
