Patchwork (Aids Day)

In the park,
       a quilt of cloth,
a blanket of clouds
       a memorial,
              a darkness,
love and memories,
       ominous and foreboding,
color and design,
       shade and shadow,
covers the meadow,
       shrouds the heart.

And the list goes on:

Alex, Michael,
         Kevin, John . . .
Artist, actor,
        Musician and poet . . .
Lovers, brothers,
        sons and
                           friends . . .

names of people sewn
         together.

No more Sketches,
       Dramas,
              Songs or odes…
And as the light
        breaks through
              for the sunset,
reality is painted
        in the pastels of nature,
untitled, unsigned,
             in silence,
                      a good-bye.
