Insanity
Em preces, agoniza o campanário!
À noite, no átrio, em vigília,
Paira um anjo solitário...
Lá fora, as ruas vão desertas!
Levam consigo outros passos!
Longe as estrelas vão despertas,
E brilham perdidas no espaço...
As flores tenazes das tílias,
Não caem das árvores, ao chão!
Delas, quebrem todas as tíbias,
Àquelas que rogaram amor em vão!
Suspensa, num arco medonho,
Flutua silenciosa, a catedral!
Tão viva!...Perece nos meus sonhos...
E imerge num caos infernal!
No peito, a venal certeza,
Suspiram mil e uns pesadelos!
- Como Fausto, ó princesa,
Esse sim!...Não quero sê-lo!
Gritos!...Soluços!...Loucos gemidos,
Ecoam das profundezas da capela!
É um anjo enlouquecido,
Que pergunta embalde: É ela?! É ela?!
