A CHUVA MOLHA AS ALMAS DISTRAÍDAS
A chuva, lá fora, molha as almas distraídas
e o oráculo boceja o hálito tépido da última oferenda.
As imponentes colunas do capitólio vigiam as fúteis vidas
dos plebeus, dos patrícios, e do general em sua tenda.
A vestal letárgica dorme nos degraus do templo,
irresponsável, se esqueceu de alimentar o fogo sagrado.
O seu castigo, às outras, servirá de exemplo.
Seu degredo, sua escravidão, seu destino está vaticinado.
Roma se sustenta arrogante em sua glória frágil, temerária,
enquanto tinge a arena com sangue de dilaceradas feridas.
Seus heróis são lutadores que se arrogam em fama lendária,
enquanto a chuva, lá fora, molha as almas distraídas.
