Creio que "descer fundo", em se falando de "fado" (não o estilo musical, mas o significado "sorte", "destino"), pode denotar falta de sorte.
"Descer fundo" = não ter
"Fado" = sorte, destino.
Pode-se construir a frase: Desde algum tempo há falta de sorte.
Desculpe-me se a interpretação estiver equivocada.
