Soneto ao Caracol

Em meio ao jardim, vai o caracol
sem qualquer pressa de lá ir chegar
caminhand' assim,c'os cornos ao sol
a cas'às costas, seu lar, doce lar

Ó caracol, tu que andas sem pressa.
dizei-me onde vais nesse caminhar...
Será que pagas alguma promessa,
Ou é só mania d' andar devagar?

-Sou um caracol, meu jeito é assim,
assim fui feito, por mão divinal.
E tu, poeta, dizei-me enfim:

S' ando eu lento, que faço de mal?
Deixai-me a andar a sós no jardim
Volt'aos teus versos, se tens cabedal.
