Orange Alert

From the Department of Poemland Security:

If you hear something say something!

Be wary and vigilant at poetry readings!
Be on the alert for insurgent guerilla poets
who have been wreaking havoc and mayhem
at various libraries, bookshops and cafes.

As a member of the public that attend
these venues you should be attentive
and listen closely to readers.

Keep a keen ear out for:
violent villanelles, sniping sonnets,
pantoum pipe bombs
and haiku hand grenades

Be suspicious of:
sonnets with incendiary iambic verse
Be on guard for:
free verse littered with rapid fire alliteration,
sadistic similes and masochistic metaphors

If any of these occur:
notify the host or mc immediately.
If it is too late and you find yourself
in danger:
Drop to the floor.
Put your head between your knees.
And most importantly cover your ears.
But always remember:
