I could pretend

I could just pretend
you were the only one,
the man of my dreams.
I could also pretend
I didn't see your mistakes,
not even the worst ones
just to keep you by my side.
And we could go on
living a life of lies,
based upon a false perfection
and a masked happiness.
But I chose to face
the ugly and cruel reality
that killed my illusions
healed my stupid blindness 
and revealed me who
you really are.
It was so difficult
to see the truth
and escape from
the redome
I was living in.
