The Plain Truth
Them, once tenderly nurtured
waited on each season to hatch
played on fallen snow in winter
smelled the bloom of spring
ran with swift autumn winds
and cheered with glee when summer verged
Them, those once conquered fear
faced each obstacle head on
broke free of the mental barriers
Them, now lost within
the subject of others
and ridicule of the proud
Them are locked inside
the mind and
society’s cell
Them, won’t be viewed
when moving on
to the other world
Someone should
be there to cry
but we think
“ I never knew you”
When they climb
on the stairway
to heaven with
you or I
what will we do
when we meet
on the first staircase
Will you hold hands
will you react
as you do
here on earth
Him and her are the destitute
Us, I don’t know yet
what will become of us
Us the ones, the sane
whom watched
stared
bowed heads
walked away
etc, etc, etc
Them the destitute
the test
You the tested
Given much
Much demanded
All, formed by mankind
conceived by two
loved by the Creator
of heaven and earth
