Cena II

(Uma rua. Entram Pórcia e Nerissa.)

Pórcia
Vê onde o judeu mora e entrega-lhe a ata, para tomar a assinatura dele. Partiremos à noite; desse modo poderemos chegar a casa um dia antes dos dois maridos. Muito alegre Lourenço vai ficar à vista da ata.

(Entra Graciano.)

Caro senhor, bom foi que vos achasse. Senhor Bassânio, após melhor exame, vos envia este anel e vos convida para jantar com ele.

Pórcia
Isso é impossível; mas pelo anel lhe fico agradecido; dizei-lhe isso, vos peço. E agora, o obséquio me fazei de indicar a este mancebo a casa de Shylock.

Graciano
De bom grado.

Nerissa
Uma palavra, meu senhor, convosco.

(À parte, a Pórcia.)

Quero ver se também obter consigo do meu marido o anel que ele jurara trazer sempre no dedo.

Pórcia
Isso é certeza. Vamos ouvir as juras costumeiras, de que a homens os cederam. Mas nós duas os contraditaremos, anulando seus protestos solenes. Vamos logo! Já sabes onde deves encontrar-me.

Nerissa
Caro senhor, quereis mostrar-me a casa?
