October's End

Colorful leaves dance
And pirouette on the wind,
The season's ballet.

The season's ballet
Becomes a striptease, leaving
Naked tree branches.

Naked tree branches
Reach to the sky like fingers,
Stretching for more sun.

Stretching for more sun,
Shadows fade into darkness,
Full moon on the rise.

Full moon on the rise,
Orange glow illuminates clouds,
Stars shimmer in sky.

Stars shimmer in sky,
The day's warm air dissipates,
Cool nights fill the void.

Left by Autumn's waning sun,
Warning of winter.

Warning of winter,
Breezes rustle tree branches,
Colorful leaves dance.
