a loss for words

the forgotten poet’s lines
lie hidden
within my memory
occasionally igniting
a spark
of inspiration
and insight

a muted voice echoes
inside me
eloquent, powerful,
words
paraphrased,
ready to burst
out of my mouth

they fail to escape
and are caught
dangling
on the tip
of my tongue
