He carresses her hair with the brush
Moving his hands up and down
Fingers penetrating deeper into her scalp
The color of her skin he wonders on,
but the pallate holds shades of brown,
from cream to rich chocolate

Often he dreams of her; on canvas
she comes alive
The others are held by a brick wall,
they stare and cry dripping paint tears

Those women have been there before
Loved and forgotten,
and the artist looks for a perfect bride
in his gifted mind
in his talented hands
he will create a beautiful figure
to dream of
to want
to replace
to forget
like the rest.
