Coitado do mentiroso
Mente uma vez mente sempre
Mesmo que fale verdade
Todos lhe dizem que mente

Quando alguém falta á verdade
É muito triste é odioso
Ele duvida da realidade
Coitado do mentiroso

Mentira tem a perna curta
Já lá diz a nossa gente
De tanto mentir até surta
Mente uma vez mente sempre

O mentiroso ou mentirosa
Vive na inveracidade.
Ela será sempre mentirosa
Mesmo que fale verdade

Mentiroso ganha tal  fama
Que quando  verdade está presente
E afirmando que verdade ama
Todos lhe dizem que mente.

o verso que dá o mote ao poema descreve uma grande verdade
e cada vez se mente mais neste nosso mundo sofredor.
