O leão vencido pelo homem

Poz-se em venda uma pintura,
Onde estava figurado
Leão de enorme estatura,
Por mãos humanas prostrado
.
Mirava a gente com gloria
O painel; eis senão quando
Um leão, que ia passando,
Lhe diz: «É falsa a victoria.

«Deveis o triumpho vosso
Á ficção, blasonadores;
Com mais razão fôra nosso,
Se os leões fossem pintores.»
