Concluiu pintor famoso
Um certo retrato humano,
E o taful sequaz de Apollo
O foi mostrar muito ufano.

Para o painel apontando
Lhe disse: «Amigo, que tal?
Deveis gabal-o, que vós
Conheceis o original.

«Foi ditosa a pincelada;
Nunca retratei tão bem,
Nunca pintei como agora!.. .»
Pergunta o poeta: «A quem?»
