Levando um velho avarento
Uma pedrada n'um olho,
Pôz-se-lhe no mesmo instante
Tamanho como um repolho.

Certo doctor, não das duzias,
Mas sim medico perfeito,
Dez moedas lhe pedia
Para o livrar do defeito.

«Dez moedas ! (diz o avaro)
Meu sangue não desperdiço:
Dez moedas por um olho !
O outro dou eu por isso.»
