Certo enfermo, homem sisudo,
Deixou por condescendencia
Chamar um doctor, que tinha
Entre os mais a preferencia.

Manda-lhe o fofo Esculapio
Que bote a lingua de fôra,
E envia dez garatujas
A' botica sem demora.

«Com isto (diz ao doente)
A sepultura lhe tapo.»
Replica o pobre a tremer:
«Aposto que não escapo.»
