Under The Gapstow Bridge-NYC

On murky water
it did walk upon

that Heron played
the part of an Angel

watching over water
flocks; it paid no
attention to distractions

its frame held by sort
of stilt like legs
and salty colored plumes

pacing back and
forth to rest
on the nearest rock

Momma Mallard could
not keep up with
her darling ducklings;

she could use the help
from the mass of playful
turtles, poking heads
beneath the pond;

not one turtle comes
up in full, but when
the sun beats on a
multi-colored tile
of mustard-beige; you
could focus a look

'Wait a minute did
that turtle wink
at me, or is the
humidity making
me see things'

Bursting bubbles were
taking turns popping
from the fish playing
tag with the Hybrid ducks

and they model
deep green-purple
designs on the
eyes imagination

Two fair skin ladies perform
a gypsy dance of Flamenco
on the lawn to the clacking
of the castanets in rhythm
to the clicking of the heels;

on the green lawn of Central Park.
