Beauty and Her Beast

Her long legs straddle
the Harley, a lover's
embrace, hair flails,
body tenses, clutch
tightens, excitement,
acceleration, ecstasy,
ominous and foreboding.

Losing herself, heart
pumping, pounding,
matching the pulsating
power of the big
V-Twin engine.

Her past loves, remnants
and wreckage, scattered
like gravel on the highway.

She becomes one with nature.

Luminous eyes sparkle,
distant headlights
and faraway stars,
outshine
indiscernible scars,
the bike accidents
and battles in bars.

Forgiveness sought,
guilt and fear allayed.
Riding fast and free,
love's illusions pander
self-delusions of grandeur.
