Fishes in the Water

The current curls spins spills and rolls
Don flows in steady flood in many adventures;
Roaches graze in sandy bottom, in shoals
Starlet comes out to feed at night full of stars
Carps wallow in their haunts in green slime bank
Chup and zander chase small fries in rank,
Sheet-fish rummages among the shells and shingle
Rising up with a green billow and many a ripple
Under the generous moon, showing its scales
And charming golden fins that gleans
Then plunges back and pushes the shells
With its bulbous head bewhiskered, with rims;
The morning finds it motionless, overfed
In torpid doze among the snags corroded.
Coming from the ocean hilsas lay many an egg
In Ganga and Meghna, for progenies they beg;
Many are caught in nets before and after
Men rejoice the catches with hilarious laughter.
There are fishes of other species under the Sun
Which after birth to Motherland return,
Schools of fishes of different hues always crowd
Uncountable small things, not so renowned;
Originating in water dazzling life-forms
Grow and die, die and grow, according to the norms.

Life of fishes in dark and shallow waters
A world apart from the earth and ours
Or do we resemble the life of fishes, Dugongs and reptiles
Life of corals crabs and seals?
