Ó, Língua Portuguesa!...És suave! E doce! E bela!
Romanceada! Pululas de uma concordância verbal!
És a essência dos verbos que acende como a vela,
Acende os teus mais parnasianos prefixo nominal!

És superlativa absoluta!...És sintética!...És erudita!
Em Drummond!...Em Bilac!...Em Machado de Assis!
Nos versos mais azuis desta via via-láctea bendita,
Vais à imensidão refulgindo na estrela que te quis!

Em Drummond vais-te numa transitividade verbal!
E segues bailando entre hipérboles e preposições,
Girando nos compassos em mil adjetivas locuções!

És tão bela!...És a arte eloquente! O dialeto nacional!
Muito eu te escrevo com saudade do obsoleto trema,
E nessa Profissão de Fé, vou-te Bilac ando o poema!
