Sounds of Love
I fell in love in crescendo
It began with the sound of the waterfalls,
releasing down at El Yunque forest;
a never changing pitch
When I lived by the mountains in Cidra
The Nightjar would sing in winter and
I was fed by a silver spoon of love
In nocturnal I closed my eyes
listening to the Coqui and
I slept soundly with its Ko-Kee
song in my room, I heard love
through the air engorged to emit love notes
I sat on a rock and waited for the calm waves
of Luquillo beach, they belly danced on my skin,
while the palms on trees swayed to the beat
of the waves and the sun rays sauté my skin,
the sand creamy and resevoir clean
My memory of La Isla Del Encanto,
the island of cocos, mangos and aguacates
is the sound of love falling from trees,
the place of my birth
