SONETO A LA PREMURA DE LOS SANTOS
No creo vengas para estar conmigo
y esperarás seguro a que yo vaya
sin importar si mi alma se desmaya
por el donaire de vivir contigo.
Es tan grande el afán con que persigo
ese deseo que en mi pecho estalla
al perpetuar a un padre de tu talla,
que a veces siento como que mendigo.
No advertiste, en premura de los santos,
buscando el cielo y alabar Su gloria
y siguiendo tu idea perentoria,
que acá dejabas los filiales llantos
con el alma repleta de quebrantos
sólo atenuados en la fiel memoria.
