Um anjo adormecido!
Um inefável anjo,
Suspenso sobre o jazigo!

Um anjo, pendente visco!
Presa as asas, marmóreo par!
Por todos os meios, proibido!
Proibido de voar!

Aberta as asas de par em par!
Repousa sobre o jazigo,
Sem nunca aos céus se alçar!

E vai toda tristonha, a chorar!
Ao anjo tudo é permitido!
Só não lhe é permitido voar!
