Ha muito, ó lenho triste e consagrado!
Desfeita podridão, velho madeiro!
Que tens avassalado o mundo inteiro,
Como um pendão de luto levantado.
Se o que foi nos teus braços cravejado
Foi realmente a Hostia, o Verdadeiro,
Elle está mais ferido que um guerreiro
Para livrar das flexas do Peccado.
Ha muito já que espalhas a tristeza,
Que lutas contra a alegre Natureza,
E vences ó Cruz triste! Cruz escura!
Chega-te o inverno, symbolo tremendo!
Queremos Vida e Acção- Fica-te sendo
Um emblema de morte e sepultura!
