Minha mulher, a solidão

Minha mulher, a solidão,
Consegue que eu não seja triste.
Ah, que bom é o coração
Ter este bem que não existe!

Recolho a não ouvir ninguém,
Não sofro o insulto de um carinho
E falo alto sem que haja alguém:
Nascem-me os versos do caminho.

Senhor, se há bem que o céu conceda
Submisso à opressão do Fado,
Dá-me eu ser só - veste de seda-,
E fala só - leque animado.
