Em mim, a felicidade é triste...
É uma felicidade, assim, sentida...
Uma amargura que insiste,
Em celebrar, comigo, a vida...

Negra bílis!...O deleite em mim!
Feita no desgosto, galhardia...
A derrear-se no meu peito, assim,
Numa agourenta companhia...

Eternos regozijos dentro d’alma!
A alegria me bate à testa
E ri n’amargura que me acalma...

É-me, a felicidade, tamanha dor!
É-me tudo o que faz festa!
Como esse enterro que passou...
