Canto as belezas da terra

Canto o sol nas palmeiras

Canto a pureza que s’encerra

No peito da gente hospitaleira

 

Canto a canção da vida

Da seara o renascer

Canto minha gente sofrida

E a sua gana de viver

 

Canto as nossas florestas

Pulmões do nosso mundo

Canto as favelas infectas

Com um pesar profundo

 

Canto as praias e avenidas

Canto as classes desvalidas

Canto os cantos das cidades

Nesse encanto que me invade

 

Canto a diferença social

Canto a impune mediocridade

Dos vendedores de jornal

Que vendem meias verdades
