O homem que outrora fui, o mesmo ainda serei:
leviano, ardente. Em vão, amigos meus, eu sei,
de mim se espere que eu possa contemplar o belo
sem um tremor secreto, um ansioso anelo.
O amor não me traiu ou torturou bastante?
Nas citereias redes qual falcão aflante
não me debati já, tantas vezes cativo?
Relapso, porém, a tudo eu sobrevivo,
e à nova estátua trago a mesma antiga oferenda…
