Song of Promise

I step into a healing pool,
one like at Bethesda,
where the angel came down
every now and then to trouble
the waters, I am only there
in mind and spirit, I am
deeply impotent, carrying
a heart of despair

Afterwards, I am showered
with a song ,one I recognise,
and have not sung for some time,
it becomes a healer
as I sing louder than usual,
only I can hear the words

This chorus I sing;
prepared to meet my need
and I know that although
it looks hopeless for me
and burdens may not erase
right now, anytime I want to,
I am welcome to bathe in the
pool of Bethesda
