O SILÊNCIO DOS MORTOS

Escrevo-te em segredo, este poema triste...
São versos doentios que nunca viste!
Amargo soneto mergulhado na dor!
Versos doridos que a morte levou...

Bem sofre em desatino, ó, coração suicida!
Ó anjo caído!...Por acaso, isso é vida?!
A desgraça já me fere o peito enlouquecido!
Do que fui, só resta o espectro esvaecido!

Uma lágrima doentia - do poema -, já sangra!
Vês?!...É o derradeiro óbolo que deposito,
Junto às flores que muito encobrem tua campa!

Pague a Caronte, o barqueiro infernal!
Que conduza tua alma pelo Estige enegrecido!
Ao silêncio da morada sepulcral...
