Yo soñaba ser lo que no debía ser,
y batallé contra la vida;
hice todo lo contrario,
cambié el rumbo del destino,
aunque este nunca desistía del final
que tenía guardado para mí.
Yo seguí marchando entre alegrías y tristezas
de frente siempre de frente
en la adversidad o en la fortuna,
con el fracaso o la victoria.
Mis pasos se tambaleaban al sentir
los escollos del camino incierto,
el ánimo desvanecía,
y mi sueño convertido en una pesada carga
me quebrantaba el espíritu...
Tropezaba tantas veces con la dificultad
que inamovible impedía la escalada
hacia la finalidad trazada;
la gente comentaba
que lo pretendido era descabellado,
y nunca lo lograría.
Yo desvié el camino señalado,
entré a un mundo ignorado
donde solo se escuchaba el ruido tan fuerte
de la puerta cerrada...
Azotada en mis propios hocicos;
pero no desfallecí y volví a tocar
una y otra vez...
Escalé la ladera empinada dejando la piel
pegada en la roca brillosa, resbalosa,
y pasaba mi lengua sobre las llagas,
y con la saliva opacaba el ardor que dejaban,
hasta que el cerrojo que aseguraba
los oídos sordos y los párpados cerrados
comenzaba a ceder...
Y los tímpanos ajenos sintieron los sonidos
de las campanitas que trae el amanecer,
y los ojos incrédulos vieron la luz tenue
que con su rayo traza
la ruta hacia un camino venidero.
Y las lenguas obstinadas
suplicaban generosidad;
babeadas de hiprocresía lamían de aquellos frutos,
pero a mí no me importaba
la falsedad de sus actos,
si había logrado entrar a la orbe ilusionada.
Yo alumbré el lado oscuro de la luna,
y refresqué la esfera ardiente del sol,
yo estuve noches eternas
dando palos a ciegas...
Pero no desfallecí,
remé entre las inmensas olas del mar,
pero nunca naufragué...
Peleé la batalla contra la vida,
pero no retrocedí...
De frente siempre de frente,
yo soñaba ser lo que no debía ser.
