"Penso agora em flores, sorrisos, desejo de mulher, e compreendo que todo o meu horror de morrer está contido em meu ciúme de vida.

Sinto ciúme daqueles que virão e para os quais as flores e o desejo de mulher terão todo o seu sentido de carne e de sangue.

Sou invejoso porque amo demais a vida para não ser egoísta...

Quero suportar minha lucidez até o fim e contemplar minha morte com toda a exuberância de meu ciúme e de meu horror".

Albert Camus (1913-1960), grande escritor argelino com ascendência francesa, autor de O Estrangeiro e O Mito de Sísifo.
