Eram como a noite e o dia
Nunca deveriam se encontrar
Um era descendente da Bahia
O outro foi nascido além-mar
Mas talvez por grande ironia
E ousadia do nobre destino
Por amor, paixão ou porfia
Ou por simples querer divino
Viriam os dois a se enamorar
Como por fábula ou fantasia
Viajando por terra e por mar
Encontrando amor e magia
E a bela deusa da Fortuna
De cornucópia em sua mão
Quis preencher esta lacuna
Dentro de cada do coração
Vendo que no mundo existia
Um João para aquela Maria...
Enfim, os dois puderam se amar
Unidos assim, de noite e de dia!
