Cinematógrafo (Ossip Mandelstam, poeta russo)

Cinematógrafo. Três assentos.
Azáfama dos sentimentos.
A aristocrata e abastada
Na teia da rival-celerada.

O amor que surge não controla:
Em nada é ela culpada!
Como a um irmão, abnegadamente,
Amou da frota o tenente.

Já ele no deserto vagueia –
Bastardo filho do conde encanecido.
Assim começa o açucarado
Romance da bela condessa.

Em frenesi, feito cigana,
Para trás os braços torce.
Separação. Furiosos sons
Do piano atormentado.

Bravura ainda há o bastante
No peito débil e confiante
Para roubar para o inimigo
Documentos importantes.

Pela alameda das castanheiras
O colossal motor a toda,
A fita palra, bate o coração
Mais alegre de ansiosa comoção.

Em caro vestido e de maleta-viagem,
Em automóvel e em vagão,
Apenas teme a perseguição,
Exaurida de árida miragem.

Que amargo absurdo:
O fim não justifica os meios!
Para ele – herança paterna,
Para ela – fortaleza eterna!
