Há em toda a beleza uma amargura
secreta e confundida que é latente
ambígua indecifrável duplamente
oculta a si e a quem a olhar obscura

Não fica igual aos vivos no que dura
e não a pode entender qualquer vivente
qual no cabelo orvalho ou brisa rente
quanto mais perto mais se desfigura

Ficando como Helena à luz do ocaso
a língua dos dois reinos nâo lhe é azo
senão de apartar tranças ofuscante

Mas à tua beleza não foi dado
qual morte a abrir teu juvenil estado
crescer e nomear-se em cada instante?
