Impossível ter na alma esta fogueira acesa,
Labaredas e brasas por dentro a me queimar!
Chamas de amor e este fogo a crepitar;
Saudade ardendo, em brasas e incertezas!
Impossível a tristeza, a incompletude vaga,
E o que mais dói, é toda esta incerteza;
A madrugada atormenta, uma insônia brava,
Não pode ser em vão, meu Deus, tanta tristeza!...
Impossível que esta dor que me aperta noite afora,
Não seja desta vontade de te abraçar que sempre aflora,
Se tu quisesses, eu te beijaria até à aurora,
Nesta angústia por ti, meu coração apenas chora!
Impossível que não sintas que te amo tanto!
Impossível que não venhas me afastar do pranto!
Pensar que tudo isto é sonho ou pequena mentira;
Não me verás nos teus olhos, nem no ar que respiras?
