Um consultor político que está prestes a obter o divórcio é questionado pela sua filha de 11 anos acerca das suas relações amorosas.
A menina não percebe o porquê de tanta agitação e constante troca de namoradas na vida do seu progenitor.
Este filme é uma comédia romântica, que vive acima de tudo da presença de Abigail Breslin (Uma Família à Beira de um Ataque de Nervos) e das muitas caras bonitas que passam pelos braços do protagonista (Ryan Reynolds), Isla Fisher, Rachel Weisz e Elizabeth Banks entre outras.
