CHORO (À Minha Mãe)

Ardem-me os olhos mãe.
Arde neste teu filho,
A grandeza do destempo…..

O céu foi p’ra mim,
Nunca o céu do paraíso,
A não ser que vestisses
De deusa, mãe!

Ardem-me os olhos, mãe!

Mas se hoje ainda que longe,
Tua bondade abranda
Meu luar triste, teu ralhar
Chapinha no meu rio,
Salpicando silentes margens!
Que será mãe,
Que nos vai unir
Pelo fio da pedra?

Ardem-me os olhos, mãe,
Pelo que hei-de eu ou vós chorar!
