Vive um povo

Um povo vive
Nos olhares distantes
Na música forte
Nos passos firmes.

Ainda que se tornem retirantes
No forró, tertúlia
Dançam na tristeza, alegria
E cantam seus versos em repentes.

Vive um povo, no mesmo chão,
distantes das riquezas da nação
Fugindo das promessas
E chegando à miséria em favelas.

AjAraújo, o poeta escreve em Fevereiro de 1977, após período no interior do Ceará (Sertão do Cariri), no projeto Rondon.

Fala sobre os contrastes dos nordestinos
que obrigados a deixar o sertão em busca
de melhores oportunidades no sudeste,
acabam vivendo em condições subhumanas nas favelas.
