Elmano foi mais que Deus;
Hoje é misero mortal.

Quando entre os carinhos teus
Gosou dos bens a excellencia,
Elmano despiu a essencia,
«Elmano foi mais que um deus:»
Entranhou-se pelos céos,
Foi ao cume divinal,
A Jupiter viu-se egual,
Fallou-lhe a felicidade:
Volveu á humanidade,
«Hoje é misero mortal.»

Desenganae-vos, athêos,
Vêde a vossa insipiencia,
Eu vos mostro a omnipotencia,
«Elmano foi mais que um deus:»
Eia, acreditae os céos,
Crêde no bem divinal;
Mas oh pranto ! Oh dôr! Oh mal!
Tornae á incredulidade,
Porque quem foi divindade
«Hoje é misero mortal.»
