Lilia geme, Lilia chora.
De Lilia o dôce amador,
O seu objecto querido,
Jaz (oh Fados!) jaz sumido
No abysmo do eterno horror:
Com seus frecheiros Amor
O triste caso deplora;
E qual em nuvens a Aurora
Fecha o rosto divinal;
Sobre a campa funeral
«Lilia geme, Lilia chora.»
Nasceu Lilia; a N a t u r e z a .
Soltou por tudo alegria:
Cresceu Lilia; eis veiu um dia
Em que tudo foi tristeza:
A face da redondeza
Eis vasto incendio; devora,
E soando a toda, a hora
Ais, queixumes, gritos, prantos,
Sentida de seus encantos
«Lilia geme, Lilia chora.»
